I am a creator by trade. Since childhood I have always been drawn to the arts. I studied Printmaking at the University of Calgary and graduated in 2007 with a BFA in studio art. My work is influenced by my connection to the natural world. I find peace and inspiration from being outdoors. Many of my projects start with documenting natural processes through drawing and print, capturing details, reproducing patterns. Paper is a medium that has always resonated with me and the repetitive nature of printmaking led me to develop a deep love of bookbinding. I love using beautiful handmade papers, snapshots of the natural world, created slowly with care. Bookbinding and Printmaking are processes that take time, care and attention. In a world that is so focused on quick and easy solutions I love the primitive quality of both of these two pursuits. There are no short cuts only beautiful results. Teaching brings me great fulfillment as I see people learn to create something with their own hands. It inspires and renews me.
